Sapporo International Arts Festival
Video commission and site-specific photographic response made for the Sorachi Coal Mine Exhibition as part of the Sapporo International Arts Festival, 2014. This project was the result of being awarded the Grand Prix from the Sapporo Biennale international art competition in 2011.
The exhibition was held in a decommissioned electrical power plant in a former coal mining town of Yubari, Hokkaido.

The film and photographs reflected on permanent and temporary disfigurations of the landscape.
The film was shot in former mining sites throughout county Wicklow, with a human figure traversing streams still polluted with run-off from mines closed over 100 years earlier.
The photographs were shot in Yubari, focusing on out-of-use energy infrastructure in the local area, alongside artificial colours, waste and plastic interrupting the landscape.

Dusting
Made on residency in Prague as part of the Started residency, a result of an honorary mention from the Startpoint Prize for Emerging Artists.
Dusting is a 4 minute video and 35mm slide projection installation, where a monotonous domestic task – dusting- becomes the basis of a grotesque display of desire as years of dust and dirt are licked off the windows of an abandoned public building.

The Unnameable
Exhibited at the Royal College of Art graduate exhibition in 2011, this film and photographic series was made in collaboration with Sally-Anne Kelly. It was exhibited at a solo exhibition in Rua Red, alongside a self-published photobook which tells the story of a boy who grows up feeding an invisible ‘elephant’. As he begins to imagine life without the elephant, we follow him through his imagination, in out of his consciousness.
